Natural Calamities: Are We To Be Blamed?

Storms and other natural calamities are phenomenons brought by nature. It is normal in our country to experience these events as they come and go every year.
Over these past few months, storms have been in and out of our country consecutively causing massive floods, threatening lives, and leave marks of destruction and heartaches to many people. We can hear over the news about lives lost and people suffering sickness and hunger. Government has been passing out help and relief goods to those living in areas affected by storms and floods, drills and safety precautions have been demonstrated and were given, but still, many suffer and died.

Who should we blame? No one, as what might many would say, for we do not control these phenomenons, it is not in our hands to summon such events to come and leave our country. True, but have you ever thought that we might have something to do with these calamities? Great storms coming consecutively not only on rainy seasons but also summer are brought by climate change, a change that we humans could do. Our intensive use of things that contain CFC and burning plastics at home, such simple activities, have greatly contributed to climate change. Garbage and cellophane on canals and heavy rains add up to floods, also causing massive destruction to our environment.
Let's not wait for these calamities to worsen. Let's act what we have been saying for years. Let's help our environment, and maybe, a storm will only be a storm with heavy winds and rains, that would leave only marks of little damage to our living and would not threaten our lives.
